Rubbish removal & house clearances in Mosman Bay
The valley asks for a plan. We bring one.Mosman Bay is the fold in the suburb: Avenue Road winding down from the village to the ferry wharf, lanes that were never drawn with a truck in mind, and houses that have watched the wharf for a generation or more. It is lovely, and it is steep, and both of those things shape how a pickup or a clearance here should be done. So we work it out before the day, and the price you agree to already knows about the stairs.
A wharf at the bottom, houses all the way up
The valley runs from the ridge down to the water: Avenue Road carries you from the village to the wharf, and Trumfield Lane and Curraghbeena Road hold the slope in between. Front doors sit above or below the street, gardens step down in terraces, and the last stretch to plenty of doors is a path, not a driveway.
The work itself is the ordinary work of any harbour pocket: the fridge that gave up, the mattress after the spare room empties, the outdoor setting rusted past saving, a season of hedge and garden cuttings, and, in a pocket held this long, the whole-house clearances we are named for.
What changes down here is never the manner. It is the plan: where the van can actually stand, how the carry runs, and how long the slope adds. We settle all three before we quote, so the day itself is calm.
The lanes are tight, so the plan comes first
A skip has nowhere honest to stand in the valley, and a truck cannot simply wait outside the door: many streets here are resident permit zones, and the council has no truck permit a crew could book instead. None of that is a problem. It is just the brief.
- Where the truck stands. Sometimes at the kerb, sometimes a street above, chosen legally and kindly before we arrive, never circling on the morning.
- How the carry runs. We walk the route first: the lane, the steps, the gate a sideboard has to turn through. If the way down is a path, that is in the plan, not a surprise.
- What it costs. The slope and the stairs are priced into the one fixed figure you agree before anything is lifted. Nothing is added at the kerb because the carry ran long.
And because a blocked lane down here is a neighbourhood event, we keep the lanes passable and the job tidy as it goes. The neighbours should only know we were here by the empty space.
Long-held houses, cleared with care
Houses in this valley tend to stay in the same hands for a long time, and a house held for thirty years holds a great deal: a sideboard older than the marriage, the files of a working life, an under-house of timber offcuts and tools, a garden's worth of pots. When one of them has to be emptied, for an estate, a downsize or a sale, that is the heart of our work.
Photographs and letters come out first, boxed and labelled before the crew touches anything else. Anything still worthwhile is offered to donation before disposal, and the whole job carries one fixed price, put in writing before the first carry. If you are organising it through the solicitor or the agent, we work in with them; if you are steering it from another city entirely, the whole clearance can be run from where you are.
The estate clearance page answers the hard questions plainly, and the walkthrough lets you read the process one calm page at a time.
Asked often, in Mosman Bay
Can a truck actually get to our place?
Close enough, always. Some doors in the valley we drive to; for others the truck stands a street above and we carry the rest. Either way we work the route out before we quote, and the carry is inside the fixed price, so the answer to "can you get here" is yes, with a plan.
Do you take garden and green waste from the terraced gardens?
Yes, happily: hedge cuttings, prunings, the pots and stakes and timber a stepped garden collects. We bundle and bag as we go, carry it up or down to the truck, and leave the paths swept.
Can't the council cleanup handle it?
Sometimes it can, and when that is the honest answer we say so. The gaps are volume, timing and the carry to the kerb, which on this slope is real work in itself. Our guide to the Mosman Council cleanup lays out where the free service shines and where it stops.
We're clearing a family house from interstate. Does that work?
It does, and it is common here. We do the walk-through with you over video, the set-aside list and the fixed price live in writing, and anything we are unsure of is held until we have spoken to you. The full guide covers how keys, keepsakes and photos of the finished rooms are handled.
